Marmoset is seeking a Software Development Manager.

Marmoset is an open, inclusive company committed to fostering a diverse, equitable workplace where everyone is safe and welcome. Marmoset is seeking a Software Development Manager with a passion for managing people and nurturing growth as well as technical experience and skills in Ruby on Rails and Javascript. The ideal candidate has a team-first and people-oriented mindset. They are driven to lead, mentor and encourage the Tech Team towards professional and interpersonal growth, ultimately making sure each contributor’s experience is happy, full of challenges and fulfilling.

This role will also be a member of Marmoset’s Executive Leadership Team, working with stakeholders across the company to maintain our established structures and processes, participate in company-wide planning and communication, and lead and maintain a vision for the broader, long-term goals of the application and the team. The Software Development Manager will oversee process and protocol development, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.

This role will work on site with the team at Marmoset HQ in inner SE Portland, Oregon (relocation support can be provided).

What you should know: Our Tech Team consists of three developers and a Product Owner, with occasional support from outside contractors and technology advisors as bigger projects come our way. We are committed to scrum and agile methodology. As part of a small team, our developers are responsible for building and maintaining our end-to-end software lifecycle.

Our application supports critical business functions for both our internal staff and our clients, including:

  • Ecommerce platform
  • Music catalog storage and curation
  • Organizing music projects and delivery
  • Accounting system integration
  • Sales order process

  • …and much more.

Our developers work both independently and collaboratively. We’re a self-organizing team that moves quickly together and contributes across the stack as needed regardless of specialized knowledge or experience. Marmoset’s culture is one in which developers must be open and motivated to learn and grow outside of specific specialties. Sharing knowledge and asking for help is important around here! We have the freedom to be truly self-organizing and creative, with guidance and support from leadership, as we move into the future of new tech opportunities for Marmoset.

Our main focus for the next 12 months is to identify and develop ways to support high-value business growth with our software, while building towards a more modern stack and flexible architecture to support sustained growth.

  • New Relic & Scout (for app monitoring)
  • Jira (for project management)
  • Github

About Marmoset

WHAT WE DO:

Marmoset is a full-service music agency, representing a highly curated roster of diverse and rare artists, bands, record labels and vintage recordings for music licensing. Our team scours the planet to deliver the perfect song for any project.

Marmoset Studio goes beyond music licensing, where our award-winning Music Production Team collaborates with artists and bands to record original music, sound design and custom scores for every need.

Create or license music for any project — all in one place.

Marmoset is the only purpose-driven, certified B Corporation in the industry, investing 10% of profits directly back into the community.

WHO WE ARE:

Marmoset’s humble beginnings go something like this:  On a typically cloudy Portland morning in 2010, two friends met-up for coffee to dream-up a new kind of music agency —one with strong values, a focus on people, and a passion for building community. The result was Marmoset, now a globally recognized creative agency, collaborating closely with hundreds of wonderfully obscure and diverse artists, bands and record labels, connecting music with creators and makers across the planet.

In 2019, we were honored to become the first purpose-driven, certified B Corporation in the music industry — still firmly rooted in community, strong values and togetherness.
